Pricing & Availability
Google Pixel Fold was first announced on May 10,
2023, but officially released on 27th June. As far as Google
Pixel Fold is concerned, you can't add it to cheap devices. It relatively
falls in the high price category as the price for the 256GB base variant
begins at $1799 & for the 512GB option, the price is $1919.
Design & Display
Google
Pixel Fold is
an aluminium frame body with a Glass front (folded) & Plastic front
(unfolded) having the protection of a Gorilla Glass back and a side-mounted
fingerprint scanner. The only thing which differentiates Google Pixel Fold from
other Foldable smartphones is its huge landscape display when unfolded. Google
gives this foldable device a customized hinge because of its durability as well
as the smart thin look of Google Pixel Fold. It comes in two colours
namely Porcelain & Obsidian and weighs 283g.
Google Pixel Fold has a 7.6" folded OLED
inner display with a 120Hz refresh rate having a resolution of 1840×2208
pixels, ~378 PPI and 1450 nits brightness at peak. A cover display of 5.8"
OLED with 1080×2092 resolution & ~408 PPI has a brightness of 1550 nits
at peak. Both displays are protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and have an
IPX8 rating for water-resistant. The inner screen when opened gives the
view of the tablet on which you can easily use two apps at the same time or can
use the whole screen for a broader view of the display.
Cameras
Google Pixel Fold comes with triple cameras on the Rear
side with one selfie lens on the front and one in the inner display. Triple
cameras are 48MP Main (f/1.7), 10.8MP Telephoto (f/3.1) with 5x
optical zoom and 10.8MP Ultrawide (f2.2). While 8MP inner selfie
camera and 9.5MP cover camera make a good selfie experience with video
recording at 4k@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60fps. Video records at 4k@30/60fps,
1080p@30/60120/240fps from the Rear cameras of Google Pixel Fold. Above
all, the photography experience comes out of the remarkable results of Google
Pixel Fold.
Storage, Battery & Performance
Google Pixel Fold come in two storage variants of 256/512GB
of UFS 3.1 with a RAM of 12GB which is sufficient for a large amount of
data even if it is non-expandable further.
Google Pixel Fold is powered with a huge power backup
of Li-Po non-removable 4821mAh battery which supports wired and wireless
charging with type C. This huge battery can go all day long without any
interruption.
Google Pixel Fold has Android 13 with Google
Tensor G2 chipset and GPU of Mali-G710 MP7. This processor can
perform heavy-duty tasks easily and doesn't affect the user experience of the
foldable phone.
Remarks
Google Pixel Fold proves to be a good addition to Foldable
Phones despite it has some flaws too. Hope that Google will improve its
Foldable Smartphone technology in future but Google Pixel Fold is
surely a good beginning in this journey.
