Megapixels or Resolution

The megapixel count of any camera sensor informs about the resolution of the images. A higher number of megapixels represents a high-resolution image with more details. Oppo Find X6 Pro has a triple camera set-up of a 50MP Main, a 50MP Periscope Telephoto and a 50MP Ultrawide lens with a 32MP of Front camera while Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is of a quad camera set-up of a 200MP Main, two 10MP Periscope Telephoto & Telephoto and a 12MP of Ultrawide lens with a 12MP Selfie camera.

Sensors

The sensor of any Smartphone is an important aspect of determining the image quality of any Smartphones camera. A sensor is produced by putting together different photosites called Pixels. When the image is taken, the sensor gathers information of pixels and redevelops the image from the data of the camera's processor. The strength of a sensor depends on its size, the bigger the sensor size, the more detailed is the image.
Oppo Find X6 Pro has camera sensors of 1.0"-type Main, 1/1.56" of Periscope Telephoto & Ultrawide and 1/2.74" of Front Camera. While Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has camera sensors of 1/1.3" Main, 1/3.52" of both Periscope Telephoto & Telephoto and 1/2.55" Ultrawide lens.

Pixel Size

A high-quality detailed image does not depend only on the size of the sensor & Megapixels Count but also on the Pixel Size. The more pixel size means capturing more light photons due to the larger area available resulting in greater exposure images.

Oppo Find X6 Pro has a Pixel Size of 1.6 μm Main, 1.0 μm of both Periscope Telephoto & Ultrawide with 0.8 μm of Selfie Camera while Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a Pixel Size of 0.6 μm Main, 1.12 μm of both Periscope Telephoto & Telephoto, and 1.4 μm of Ultrawide lens.

Aperture

The Aperture is the opening of the camera from where light photons enter the camera and its diameter determines how much light enters the camera sensor. The size of the Aperture defines how much the image would be bright or dark. A smaller count of Aperture size shows a brighter image due to a wider opening.

Oppo Find X6 Pro has an Aperture size of f/1.8 Main, f/2.6 of Periscope Telephoto, f/2.2 of Ultrawide and f/2.4 of Front Camera. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has an Aperture size of f/1.7 Main, f/4.9 for Periscope Telephoto, f/2.4 for Telephoto, and f/2.2 for both Ultrawide & Front Camera.

Zoom Range

3x zoom of Telephoto lens makes Oppo Find X6 Pro the better device for capturing zoom shots. Despite different focal lengths, Oppo Find X6 Pro gives more natural images even without the portrait mode. Though Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra gives the same results with slight differences, this can be noticed in close shots. With a 3x Main Camera, Oppo Find X6 Pro creates more saturated colour images as compared to Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra but with 6x zoom, Oppo lacks consistency in colour optimization. With 30x zoom, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra develops clear images & has an edge over the Oppo Find X6 Pro due to the higher resolution of the 200MP sensor giving an incredible amount of details.

Selfie Camera

Oppo Find X6 Pro creates brighter & vibrant selfies but Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has the widest-angle selfie camera showing a wider look of images even in portrait mode & in sunlight too. But Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a better front camera as compared to Oppo.

Video Comparison

Oppo Find X6 Pro has video resolution of 4k@30/60fps and 1080p@30/60/240fps & 1080p@30fps on the front side with gyro-EIS.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has video resolution of 8k@24/30fps, 4k@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/240fps and 1080p@960fps. On the front side, S23 has video resolution of 4k@30/60fps and 720p@30fps with gyro-EIS.

By comparing videos of 4k@30fps, both phones show the great dynamic range and detailing with slightly different colours. But as long as Electronic Image Stabilization is concerned, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has an edge with the overall same performance as both smartphones.

Night Time Performance

The main sensors of both Oppo Find X6 Pro vs  Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra perform well by brightening up images and giving details. Samsung has more contrasting image results but Oppo is good with short exposure duration. Both phones suffer in stabilization during low light but Samsung Galaxy S23 shows less details in low light while Oppo Find X6 Pro is good at saturation & exposure changes.

Final Remarks

Oppo Find X6 Pro has better 3x optical zoom but has shortcomings of over-sharpening & poor performance of the selfie camera in low light while Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has good selfie experience, especially in low light. Both phones have neck-to-neck competition in Camera features. Now it depends on user preference to choose which mobile based on which feature they needed.
