Launching, Pricing & Availability
Apple
announced its first AR-based independent product headset named "Apple
Vision Pro" in June 2023 at Worldwide Developers Conference
2023 since the Apple Watch 2015 and its availability in the US
market in early 2024 & the rest of the world in the next year.
Though it is said Apple Vision Pro to be available at the starting price
of $3499 not clear whether would
be in the USA only or not. However, the cost of the headset will rise due to the
separate cost of prescribed lenses magnetically attached to displays
inside the headset which are customized Zeiss Optical Inserts.
Digital Crown; Mixed Reality of AR & VR
Apple Vision Pro combines your digital data with your
surroundings seamlessly through the technology of AR (Augmented Reality)
that is used first time in a headset. Augmented Reality or AR is the
integration of digital data with the real-world environment so AR
creates a completely new reality after summing up both of them. However, Apple
Vision Pro is a "mixed reality" headset due to the display
of virtual reality along with augmented reality. For AR, Apple
Vision Pro uses cameras to find what is in front of you & for VR,
it close those cameras to allow you completely focus on the display of your
headset. This shifting between reality and imagination is termed as Digital
Crown.
Design:
Apple Vision Pro is designed to be wearable on the
head and is a modular designed aluminum alloy frame with
having laminated three dimension glass front that acts like a lens
having cameras & sensors in it. The Light Seal of soft textile
blocks out all the light and for this purpose, it is flexible to fit according
to every individual face shape.
Two flexible Audio Straps are present on both sides
of the headset having built-in speakers for Spatial Audio so that
you can use the headset and interact in the real world at the same time. For
this purpose, 2 amplified drivers for each audio pod are
delivering personalized spatial audio based on head and ear
geometry & Audio ray tracing matches sound to the room.
These
Audio Straps connected to the 3D knitted headband give Apple
Vision Pro desirable support to the back of the head along with an adjustable
dial for multiple sizes or styles. For powering the Apple Vision,
space is available on the left side of the headset for attachment of cable
either to an external battery of two hours battery timing or directly plug
in while using the headset all day long.
Display
An ultra-high-resolution display system built on Apple
silicon chips has two micro-OLED displays of 23 megapixels
delivering over 4K resolution for each eye and giving clarity of vision.
An external display called Eye Sight shows the clear eyes of Apple
Vision Pro's wearer to the person interacting and helps in fully aware of
the surroundings.
Processor
Apple Vision Pro has a powerful M2 processor that is used first time in MacBook Air 2022 & processes content on the visionOS operating system (designed specifically for headsets by Apple) into graphical content. The second processor of the new R1 chip collects & processes input from 12 cameras, 5 sensors, and 6 microphones at a very fast speed to virtually eliminate lag to avoid latency.
Camera & Sensors
Apple Vision Pro's 5 cameras and 6 sensors
are scanning eye gestures, hand movements and voice commands &
in this way, the headset is operating without any controller except for gaming.
A high-performance eye-tracking system uses cameras and a ring of LEDs
for projecting invisible light patterns that means it's a pretty good thing.
Optic ID
Optic ID is working on the vision by identifying the
user's iris for security & then all data is stored on the Secure
Enclave processor. Optic ID is just like Face ID to use for
unlocking devices, making authentic purchases & setting password
alternatives.
Face-Time
Face time could be a problem for headset users but Apple
redesigned it for Apple Vision Pro by giving an accurate digital
representation of the headset wearers named Digital Persona. With Face Time,
the headset user takes advantage of all space by talking to everyone in
full-sized tiles with the help of Spatial Audio & communicates by
reflecting his own face & hand movements with the help of 3D
cameras and sensors.
