History of ONIC Pakistan

Pakistan Telecom Mobile Limited (PTML), a subsidiary company of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), launched its brand in 2001 named Ufone which later merged into Emirates Telecommunication Corporation Group (Etisalat) in 2006. Now Ufone is proceeding a step ahead in uninterrupted communication with the launch of ONIC Pakistan.

 

 

 

What is Digital Telco?

ONIC Pakistan is the First Digital Telco in Pakistan & Ufone manages ONIC as a separate brand. A Digital Telecom or Telco performs its operations through a website or app for purchasing products and services in the digital world.

 

Beta Trials of ONIC Pakistan

ONIC has offered its beta trials of Pakistan's Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) which is the first time launching in Pakistan. Information about ONIC Pakistan became circulated in the communication industry since the beginning of July 2023 with the claims of attaining Digital Independence through ONIC. First of all, ONIC introduced a short Sign Up form where First Name, Last Name, Mobile Number & Email Address have to be filled by Pakistanis only for joining the Founders Club. Later on 26 July 2023, a few members got the opportunity of getting an email link to the Google form which they have to be submitted by signing in with their Google account.

ONIC App & SIM Network

After testing is accomplished, ONIC users were offered an Android app named ONIC App having a size of 14.08MB with only a new physical SIM number. After verification through email & mobile number, they could choose their preferred number of the prefix 0339 which means it is the same network of Ufone having prefixes of 033x. On the very next day 27 July 2023, a SIM card was delivered to a few subscribers within five cities of Pakistan as mentioned earlier. A Biometric Verification Solution (BVS) Scanner was used for issuing SIM cards at the time of delivery.

 

ONIC SIM Activation

A sealed ONIC SIM pack has an ONIC SIM jacket with an opener tool for the SIM tray. ONIC SIM can be used as a Mini, Macro & Nano SIM as having 3 cuts for them. After biometric verification, the SIM card can be activated by submitting the ICCID number (a globally assigned unique serial number for SIM card identification) or Barcode on the SIM jacket.
