Design of the Glyph back
Nothing Phone 2 has a little tweaked design of the Glyph
back as compared to Nothing Phone 1 but
with improved features & slightly rounded glass on the back. Nothing
Phone 2 has the same 5 strips of white LEDs in the same pattern as
in Phone 1 but with some tweaks. Arc along the camera is separated into
two strips and a big centred strip is split into six pieces.
The
actual main improvement is more addressable LED zones in each of the
strips. Nothing Phone 2 has 33 different LED lighting
zones in the entire back as compared to 12 in Phone 1. Some features of Nothing
Phone 2 are designed to use the Glyph lights as a progress
indicator.
Glyph Light as Volume Indicator
The Glyph Interface of Nothing Phone 2 acts
like a volume indicator while playing any media on the phone. The top strip of
the central main strip lights up and down along with the volume going up &
down. So this feature makes it easy to understand in which direction the volume
goes without looking into the phone.
The Glyph Timer
Nothing Phone 2 has a built-in Glyph Timer which
is a useful feature for managing time during work. Set the timer according to
your predetermined period length using the UI, then turn over the phone
to switch on the timer and you can see the visual indication of the time count
down in the LEDs. The Glyph Timer may be used in certain areas by
Third-party apps in the future too.
Essential Notifications with The Glyph
The Glyph of Nothing Phone 2 has a bit customized new feature named Essential Notifications through which certain apps can be set for receiving notifications by lighting up the Glyph back. This feature is not fully optimized due to the unavailability of assigning different apps to different lighting zones but at least customized to one app only. The Glyph Composer
Nothing Phone 2 has the Glyph Sound Composer
which is used in composing customized ringtones which turns this smartphone
into a complete music library of your taste and preference.
